SUNSET HOME – Overcoming barriers to residential placement for children:
This home provides life changing residential services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder or a related condition of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder, including associated neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive disorders.
AMAS, Inc. utilizes the Specific Natural Activity Program (SNAP), “a curriculum which is designed to assist agency staff, counselors, teachers and parents, in providing age-appropriate basic skills training for individuals with developmental disabilities. The SNAP curriculum applies to everyday tasks and deals with more than 200 topics. These are typical issues faced by individuals with developmental disabilities that are best learned out in the community, not in the classroom. Instruction is not meant to be overwhelming.”
This home provides supportive services that promote residential stability with a focus to help these individuals increase their coping and life management skills in order to maximize their potential for inclusive community living.
