AMAS Incorporated:
Amas Incorporated is a for profit corporation which was incorporated in March 2000. Deen Ajibola founded the company with the objective of providing continuity and commitment to persons with disabilities. People become more involved and independent in their lives when given the control of the resources needed for their support as well as responsibility for their decisions and actions. They have many opportunities to express their preferences and become involved in the complexities of their daily living. For example, individuals can plan and prepare meals according to their tastes. They are able to go to the grocery store and pick out items for particular meals; attending movies, sporting events, place of worship to mention just a few of them. AMAS Inc. is committed and dedicated to providing meaningful experiences for people with developmental disabilities. The agency takes a personal interest in and is a strong advocate for persons with disabilities. Amas Inc. strongly believes that people can Function, Grow and Develop when provided with the necessary Materials, Emotional, Social Supports and Validation to live stable positive lives. The agency provides In-home Support, Semi-Independent Living Services, Supported Living Services, In-home and Out of Home Respite Care.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to provide individuals in our programs with increased opportunities for community integration and safety. We also strive to provide individuals and their families with emotional and social support.

GOALS:
Our goal is to empower individuals to gain access to their community resources and activities, and to enable individuals meet their identified outcomes.

How we operate:
A service authorization is drawn up for each individual with the agreement of all parties involved. AMAS provides service, and bill the responsible County, at an hourly rate and/or per diem based on the agreed upon hours per week as authorized for the individual. Throughout the service authorization period, Amas staff will be in direct contact with the assigned county social worker. The process of identifying services needed for the individual occurs with the involvement of all parties (case manager, legal guardian, job placement counselor, psychologist, etc). Communication between parties includes monthly telephone progress reports, quarterly and termination summaries.

Role of AMAS Staff
:
Amas staff would screen/accept referrals. We perform specific tasks/services needed relating directly to complexities of daily living. We establish a service authorization outline weekly billable hours, paid at hourly/per diem rate necessary to complete identified tasks.

Tasks identified to remove barriers and/or prevent group home placement may include:
1. Locate housing
2. Secure financial assistance
3. Teach home management skills
4. Model alternative behavior techniques
5. Connect individual with community resources

Assigned County Worker’s role:
During the service authorization period, the assigned county case manager's role is to complete intake form. The assigned county worker maintains active decision-making and case management responsibilities. It is also the duty of the assigned county worker to monitor and assess any risk to individual during service authorization period.
